Blog: Made in Reno

Manny Becerra as a child

June 2012

One of the rewarding projects I've been working on this past year has been the Made in Reno app.

I grew up a considerable amount of my life in-and-around the Northern Nevada community, namely, Reno. There is a lot of diverse and inspiring talent in the Truckee Meadows: creative individuals and community-centric groups that aim to fuse passion with sustainability. So, I built the "Made in Reno" app to act as a helpful, catalyzing tool for showcasing our region's local gems — individuals, startups, alternative schools and projects, restaurants, ideas, etc.

Made in Reno is meant to connect both residents and visitors/tourists of the Reno-Tahoe (Truckee Meadows) region to further support one another in (re)building the community together, and driving more economic opportunities to the local people.

When you have an idea that aims to help people, bring communities together, and the idea keeps calling you... do it!

It's been a lot of hardwork, fortunately, it has been gratifying labor. When you have an idea that aims to help people, bring communities together, and the idea keeps calling you... do it! There are always ways to do things differently, better, and so-on, so I'm happy to talk through my lessons learned so far with others in more-depth. Feel free to reach out to me anytime.

I'm grateful to all of the local businesses, entrepreneurs, creatives, freelancers and so-on that have collaborted with me during the beta phase. The app is scheduled to be live later this summer to everyone.

Collaborate on.
